Want to sing with us?
Are you curious about singing music from around the world, connecting deeply with others, and being part of a committed, joyful ensemble?
If that sounds like you, read on.

Who we’re looking for
WOSOSI is a choir for people who enjoy singing as a shared, embodied experience.
You’re likely to be a good fit if you:
-
Enjoy embodied experiences and learning through doing
-
Are curious, open, and willing to stretch yourself at times
-
Value connection as much as musical outcome
-
Appreciate shared responsibility and showing up for a group
In practical terms, we ask that members are:
-
Able to attend regular weekly rehearsals
-
Confident singers who enjoy harmonising with others
-
Available to perform around once a term (usually evenings or weekends)
-
Open to working in the way we do, as an ensemble
Commitment
We rehearse weekly on Tuesday evenings, 7–9pm, during school terms.
Location
Ngaio Union Church
3 Kenya Street, Ngaio, Wellington
Regular attendance really matters to us. Singing together over time is what builds trust, blend, and musical depth, and absences affect the whole group’s progress.
That said, we also understand that life happens. When you do need to miss a rehearsal, we provide resources to help you catch up so you can rejoin the group with confidence.
Joining process
People usually join WOSOSI through an open evening.
This gives you a chance to:
-
Experience a rehearsal
-
Take part in warm-ups and song learning
-
Get a feel for how we work together
At the same time, it helps us understand whether your vocal range and quality suit the current composition of the choir.
There’s no need to prepare a song, and you won’t be asked to sing on your own. Just come as you are, sing with us, and ask questions.
After the open evening, if you’re still keen, we’ll be in touch about next steps. This may include a relaxed conversation with the musical director and, in some cases, a short one-on-one sing. There’s nothing formal to prepare, and it’s all kept low key.
Membership fees
WOSOSI is self-funded. Membership fees cover the cost of our musical leadership, rehearsal space, and other choir expenses.
The current fee is $135 per term.
Interested?
