Want to sing with us?

We invite potential members twice a year, usually at the beginning and middle of the year. If you are interested in being part of our vibrant group please read below and contact us about taking the next step.

Who are we looking for?

To be eligible for choir membership, you must:

  • be able to attend regular weekly rehearsals
  • be a confident singer who enjoys harmonising with others
  • be available to perform a couple of times a term; this will mostly be in the evening or weekend
  • be able to work the way we do.  Check out the How We Work page for more info.

The commitments

Our rehearsals are generally scheduled around school terms.

We expect all members to attend at least 3 out of 4 rehearsals and our term workshops.   Absences impact on our ability to make progress learning new songs, polishing current songs and improving the quality of our sounds, harmonies and general musicality. It just makes things hard going and unsettled, that’s why we make a big deal about it.  In saying this, we also know that life happens.  Sometimes the best laid plans go awry and you may need to miss rehearsals.  In this case, we provide resources for you to come up to speed so you don't fall behind.

The audition process

We invite potential members to participate in a couple of our regular practices, or a one-day workshop. This way we can if hear if your vocal range and quality suits the current composition of our choir and you can experience our rehearsal process and check that how we work, works for you. It’s also an opportunity for all of us to see whether our personalities are compatible – remember, we’re a small group and getting along together is important!

There is no need to prepare a song and you will not be expected to sing on your own. However, we would like you to participate in warm-up and song practice and you can ask any of us questions.

Soon after this first practice - and assuming you are still keen on joining – we will get in touch to let you know if we would like you to join.

Membership fees

WOSOSI is self-funded. The membership fees collected each term cover the costs of our conductor, guest conductors and practice space.

If you would like to come and audition for WOSOSI please contact us. We always love to hear from prospective new singers.
Just head to our Contact Us page and use the form to tell us a little about yourself and one of our committee members will get in touch with you.

We look forward to hearing from you.
